چکیده
Species distribution models (SDMs) are often used to predict the impact of climate change on future species. However, application species-level SDMs ignores intraspecific variation and can be problematic. The aim study was incorporate information into compare predictions subspecies- in a widespread African tree species, Sclerocarya birrea (marula). We bioclimatic variables terrain roughness index calibrate nine algorithms ‘biomod2’ platform. Ensemble were built current suitable habitat marula separately its three subspecies, birrea, caffra multifoliolata. Projections made 2041 − 2060 2081 2100 under general circulation two shared socio-economic pathways. Results showed an expansion as well subspp. time periods. subsp. multifoliolata, contrast, contracted future. Our results show that may fail detect risks for taxa, consequently leading under- or overestimation impacts change. Incorporation improves helps identify appropriate conservation management options.

Contractile effect of Sclerocarya birrea (A Rich) Hochst (Anacardiaceae) (Marula) leaf aqueous extract on rat and rabbit isolated vascular smooth muscles
BACKGROUND Sclerocarya birrea (Anacardiaceae) is traditionally used for treating hypertension. The pharmacological effects of S birrea leaf aqueous extract (SBE) on rabbit and rat vascular smooth muscles were investigated in this study. METHODS Fresh S birrea leaves (1 kg) were air dried at 26 ± 1°C, milled, macerated in 2.5 l of distilled water for 48 hours, filtered, and the filtrate was co...
متن کاملApplication of Soil Moisture Model to Marula (Sclerocarya birrea): Millet (Pennisetum glaucum) Agroforestry System in Burkina Faso
Seasonally dry forests and savannas consisting of sparse tree canopies and dominated by open grassland make up about 16 million square kilometers of tropical land of which only 1 million worldwide remains as natural vegetation (Miles et al. 2006). The remaining seasonally dry regions are cultivated (Williams 2008). Natural vegetation is adapted to the extreme seasonality, characterized by deep ...
متن کاملMyth, marula, and elephant: an assessment of voluntary ethanol intoxication of the African elephant (Loxodonta africana) following feeding on the fruit of the marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea).
Africa can stir wild and fanciful notions in the casual visitor; one of these is the tale of inebriated wild elephants. The suggestion that the African elephant (Loxodonta africana) becomes intoxicated from eating the fruit of the marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea) is an attractive, established, and persistent tale. This idea now permeates the African tourist industry, historical travelogues, the...

Interesting antimicrobial data from the stem bark of Sclerocarya birrea, which support its use in traditional medicine for the treatment of many diseases, have been delineated. The current study was aimed to further study some pharmacological and toxicological properties of the plant to scientifically justify its use. Anticancer activity of water and acetone extracts of S. birrea was evaluated ...
